New York Times di ieri. Si parla di noi: 

"This part of northern Italy is renowned for fashion, food, Fiat. But now it has another, less welcome claim to fame: the cities here have the worst air pollution in Europe".

I dati sono allarmanti e il NYT interpella Formigoni.

“We have a particularly difficult situation here,” Mr. Formigoni said. “We have a dense population, lots of industrial activity, traffic, a rich population — and we are surrounded by mountains so there is little ventilation.”

A quel punto il giornalista nota che il problema non è solo geografico, ma riguarda anche un sistema di trasporto pubblico limitato e inefficiente: è naturale che poi tutti vogliano usare l’auto.

Mr. Formigoni è sconsolated: “We’ve also campaigned for less-polluting cars, but no one is willing to give up their cars in Italy. […] It’s impossible for the Italian mentality, and it will take at least 20 years to move in this direction.”

Ecco la conclusione del Celeste: ci vorranno 20 anni per cambiare la mentalità ai lombardi. Siamo d’accordo: coltiviamo anche noi la speranza che tra 20 anni avremo una giunta regionale che, anziché prendersela con la geografia, se la prenda con lo smog.
